Being a professional athlete in any sport carries with it the unfortunate burden of having a target on your back every time you step out on the court or field. Suddenly every guy who has played in a middle school basketball game is confident he can take you. All of a sudden, an 8-time NBA All-Star like Chris Paul isn't that intimidating in real life. In fact he's probably not even that good right? Wrong.
While visiting China promoting Jordan Brand, the Los Angeles Clippers' guard participated in a friendly scrimmage with some local talent. One player in particular, native streetballer MoreFree, called him out on court, confident that he could beat the man considered one of the best point guards in the NBA .
There are many instance of well-known streetballers challenging NBA pros only to be bested on the hardwood. There are very few instances of playground ballers who truly got their start in the street making it to the NBA, with the most popular name being former AND1 Basketball Tour star and former Houston Rockets guard Rafer "Skip 2 My Lou" Alston. The vast majority though can't adapt to a more organized and rigid system of professional play or in some instances, they just don't cut it. Chinese streeballer MoreFree unfortunately got classified in the latter after after stepping up to challenge Paul.
Likely thinking his handles were more than a match for the 5-time NBA All-Defensive First Team guard, MoreFree was mistaken. Paul promptly stole the ball and MoreFree paid for his overconfidence. After all, there's a reason why he gets paid millions and millions of dollars to play basketball.
