Shooting a free throw can be a particularly tense situation, especially when the game is on the line. However at the beginning of a game it's just another shot. You'd never expect one free throw to delay the entire game for close to an hour. Unfortunately, in a strange scenario, a free throw detached the rim from the backboard.

With only about two minutes and fifty-six seconds left in the first quarter, #41 is taking the free throw to put her team within two points. So it wasn't a tense situation at all. Nonetheless, the rim came off on her first free throw attempt, which was as normal a shot as you'd expect, albeit just a bit short from going in. Luckily, when the rim came down, no one was underneath it and no one was injured.

As a result, the game between General McLane High School and Mercer High School was delayed for 45 minutes according to the video's YouTube description. General McLane won the game, however, it must definitely be one of the stranger occurrences in Pennsylvania high school basketball.
